Science has proven that the whole existence is a certain reverberation of energies, an assimilation of vibrations. Where there's vibration there's bound to be sound. In our India for millenniums the mystics have been seeing the whole existence as amalgamation of Nada Brahma or sounds.
In this complex reverberations of sounds, there're a few key sounds that we call mantras, which can open dimensions for us. In human society, meanings have become more important. People lay emphasis on meaning of the mantras so they fail to know the greater dimensions which these key sounds have to offer. If we'll run behind the meanings then we'll live in disillusions.
Like there're mantras for Indra & Agni in Rig Veda. The one who wants to seek meaning of the mantra will think that there's really some god of fire or thunder so the mantra is for invoking them. So, this way such kind of people miss the phenomenal things happening in the universe.
All this happens because people fail to understand what the word 'Mantra' literally means. This word refers to a pure sound which has neither identification nor meaning. It's an irony that people aren't able to define life as it's impossible & they're trying to define syllables which are substance of every creation in the cosmos which is also impossible. A sound can be refined or gross. Human beings are made up of both of them. If we'll multiply sound to a certain decibel, we'll end up transforming that sound into light.
This transformation is known as 'sonoluminescence'.
Mantras hold within them the latent forms of the universe. We can use these syllables for invoking the latent power within ourselves. The mantras have the power to shape reality. But mantra doesn't mean only uttering. The mantras must reverberate inside us then we'll ourselves become the key to greater dimensions. Nowadays we don't see such phenomenal things because people don't know how to make those sound reverberate inside.
And the most fundamental thing which people don't know is that Sanskrit isn't a language for communication. It was a device which was discovered to invoke sounds which created every creation we see in the cosmos.
